Reflections

Knowing the subtle difference between when to let go and when to lean in

Krista Franks Season 1 Episode 8

When we find ourselves stuck in a cycle of sacrifice or overwhelm, it’s worth pausing to ask:

Am I gripping the wheel because it serves me, the situation and those around me? Or because I’m afraid of letting go?

I read something this week from Elena Brower that cements this point. In reflecting on the death of her dear friend and honoring her beautiful soul and life, she shared words of wisdom that hit deep:

“Once you know it’s time to leave, don’t stay.”

Once you know where you need to let go, don’t hold tightly. Release. Let life flow. Let yourself be free of any expectations, standards or unnecessary fears, especially those that are self-imposed.

You’ve got this one life, don’t live it in the pursuit of something (or someone) that is not aligned with your vision and ultimate purpose.

Your Turn to Reflect
Below is a reflection opportunity for you to get clear on where this exists in your own life. Take a moment to settle in and consider the questions below using the audio above to guide you.

When you’re finished with the visualization, answer the following questions:

  • Where are you clinging too tightly in your life right now?
  • What’s your vision? What are you actually trying to achieve? And for whom?
  • Are you sacrificing your well-being, joy, or peace for a “gold medal” no one’s handing out? Or are you feeling called to lean in and let go of anything that’s holding you back?
  • What would it look like to let go? What would it FEEL like to let go?
